                          Change Your World

  • Most of the therapies commonly available today are directed towards behavioral change, which focuses on training new behavioral patterns as an alternative response to the person's symptoms.

  • This treatment is different because it actually develops a person's natural ability to organize thoughts and experiences in a way which can eliminate the symptoms before they even happen.

Dr Baker offers everyone a free one hour initial consultation to find out if this treatment is appropriate for you or your child.  During the consultation, he will assess the symptoms, discuss a treatment plan, and answer any questions.

“First of all, no-one is defective, and these conditions are no-one’s fault--you might as well ask who made the sky blue.” -- Dr Bob

Dr Baker's discovery sees the source of stuttering as a glitch in the development of the thinking processes in early infancy.  This developmental glitch results in a problem organizing ones thinking and relating thoughts together.  In this sense, Dr Baker see stuttering as a language problem, not a speech problem.

His treatment works over time to repair the developmental glitch, so that the thinking process is smooth and organized.  When the repair process is complete, stuttering is eliminated.  It does not need to be controlled, it just does not happen.

“These conditions are not the result of something a parent may or may not have done.” -- Dr Bob

As any parent will tell you, each of us comes into the world already possessing individual physical, mental, and emotional characteristics.  For some reason or another, some people do not relate with others the way that most people do.

Dr Baker's treatments for communication and relationship problems related to Autism Spectrum Disorders and Asperger's Syndrome focus on thought processing and processing speed.  He helps the child to "re-wire" his or her thought processing mechanisms, so that they function more like most people's do.  This treatment also helps to re-develop a child's mechanism for socially appropriate behavior.

This treatment is based upon modern, cutting edge therapies, which will be considered mainstream within the next few years.  This is NOT a rehash of decade or century old ideas, such as what was cruelly and incorrectly referred to as the "refrigerator mother",  in some mid-20th century treatments.

Specific methods of therapy vary with interests and age.  Younger patients are encouraged to learn new ways to interact and perceive through various play therapies. Play therapy is simply a method used to communicate with the child, so that the child's methods of organizing his/her world can be discovered and developed.  Play examples include chess, board games, drawing, coloring, and toys.  For safety reasons, no self-propelled toys are used.

Adult and teenage therapies are generally talking type therapies, but can be supplemented with some of the board game and artistic therapies, when appropriate.

Dr Baker is the first to apply his methods to eliminate stuttering.

Dr Baker's treatments for symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorders and Asperger's Syndrome are based upon similar treatments commonly used in other parts of the world, with the largest treatment center in London, which is under the auspices of their government funded medical program.  There is a small community of therapists in the U.S. who use similar methods, but they are not widely publicized.

Dr Baker is in the process of realizing his dream of creating a center here in the U.S.

Of course, these treatments may not be right for everyone.  This treatment is not effective for any symptoms of stuttering or Autism Spectrum Disorders if they have been caused by physical injury or trauma.

Each person must be evaluated individually to determine if treatment might be effective for him or her.  Stuttering, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Asperger's Syndrome are not single conditions.  Each of these are actually categories which include a great variety of symptoms and conditions, and the medical community has yet to agree upon specifics.
